Biltong Potjie
This is not our own recipe and we don’t necessarily agree with the method. However it is the closest we get to a Biltong Potjie.
  • 6 onionscut and diced
  • 500g button mushrooms
  • 1/2kg biltong cut and wet
  • 500g packet of noodles(Screw-type?)
  • 1 green peppercut and diced
  • 1can “Pit Mielies”(NOT the creamy one)
  • 2cans fresh cream
  • Loads of grated cheddar cheese
  1. Fry the onions and mushrooms in a Potjie over the coals
  2. Add a handfull of biltong. (Just sprinkle in the Potjie)
  3. In the mean time cook your noodles on the stove
  4. Put half the noodles on top of the biltong
  5. Add the rest of the biltong
  6. Add the rest of the noodles
  7. Sprinkle the greenpepper and the tin of pit mielies on top of the food in the Potjie
  8. Add the two cans of fresh cream and the grated cheddar cheese
  9. Put the lid on the Potjie until all the cheese has melted. This does not take long!!
  10. Eat immediately
